Fitness assessments just sound scary right off the bat, someone coming along and assessing how fit you are? Pretty nerve racking for sure as none of us ever seem to be where we want to be. However fitness assessments can be great tools to track progress! A standard fitness assessment will have your trainer or exercise professional measure a variety of aspects including your height/weight, body composition (how much body fat you have), your overall health and how conditioned you are with various exercises!
Some fitness assessments can be scientific (like the photo on the right) and others can be more basic (like the photos below) It all just depends on what your measuring!
Everybody has different ways of measuring, from fancy machines to measuring tape and even pencil and paper. No matter the way your results are a great baseline to establish for you as you begin or continue to progress through your journey and when it comes time again to have another fitness assessment you can see where you've made changes.
There are many fun and different methods for measuring a variety levels of fitness! Each facility and exercise professional has their own methods and process based on their resources but in the end the results are usually the same as far as what they're trying to accomplish, your fitness levels!
