A lot of discussion has been happening regarding the relevancy over hosting such large scale and expensive quadrennial multi-sporting events, especially compared to smaller, more frequent multi-sporting events such as the Outgames or Sin City Shootout. No doubt I absolutely love to participate in both kinds of events but being able to participate in a large event like the Gay Games is a whole different experience for me.
The Olympic Games matter because it is one of the few times where people from all over the world can temporarily set aside their differences and participate in an athletic event that’s common to all. The Gay Games is no different and the opportunity to truly be apart of a worldwide community is something that no annual or 2 year event can accomplish.
As Paris 2018 approaches I love to share my experiences in 2010 and 2014 to help people get excited and see just how truly amazing this event will be. As our community once again comes together and unites for 1 week in friendly competition and to celebrate ourselves not only as individuals, but as a community.
